7 Software Introduction

Choosing a control interface for FluidNC and grblHAL

FluidNC WebUI

The recommended first interface. It runs in a browser, provides console, jog controls, file upload, SD-card access, and machine status without installing a G-code sender.

General CNC Senders

Candle, UGS, OpenBuilds CONTROL and similar GRBL-style senders may be used over the main USB serial port when their connection and command expectations match your firmware.

Laser Software

LightBurn and LaserGRBL can be used only after your machine YAML, laser mode, scale, motion, interlocks, and output pin have been configured and tested safely.

grblHAL Senders

Select software against the exact grblHAL build and enabled plugins. A sender working with FluidNC does not prove that every grblHAL feature is available.

Connection Methods

Compatibility is not machine safety. Before running any third-party sender, test E-stop, limits, homing, direction, soft limits, M5, spindle/laser enable behavior, and recovery from disconnect. Use that software vendor's own manual for operation and version-specific setup.
